Local Law Enforcement
Approximately fifty cars have been marked with what appears to be human bodily fluid in the Germany's town of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, police confirm law enforcement.
Automobiles, walls and postal boxes were vandalized, sometimes with prohibited symbols, they stated in a official communication.
Law enforcement say they were notified during the night on Wednesday, when a man discovered that a automobile in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been covered with a reddish substance.
The liquid had been applied in the form of a banned symbol, they reported.
Law enforcement then found many other smeared cars and building exteriors in the surrounding area.
These symbols are banned in Germany under legislation outlawing the visible presentation of symbols from the Nazi era.
Officials state early analysis suggest the fluid was most likely blood from a person.
"At present there remains no lead as to where it came from; investigators are not yet aware of any harm in relation with the event," they stated.
Municipal representatives said they were working "to unravel the case" and have asked to the residents for tips.
A senior political figure commented the incident rendered him stunned and had to be resolved promptly.
"This event strikes at the core of Hanau and reawakens the wounds of the extremist terrorist attack half a decade ago," he stated on a platform, mentioning the death of nine victims by a assailant targeting individuals of foreign heritage in 2020.
