Melania Trump's Meme Coin Architects Facing Pump-and-Dump Scam Legal Action

The developers behind a digital token launched by US First Lady Melania Trump have been accused in court filings of planning a fraudulent operation.

Initial Launch and Value Spike

The $MELANIA cryptocurrency were released for a minimal price each on January 19, just prior to Donald Trump took office.

Alongside the Melania cryptocurrency, Trump himself introduced his own digital currency shortly prior to the inauguration ceremony.

Shortly after launch, the value of the $MELANIA cryptocurrency soared to over $13 per coin.

Rapid Decline in Price

However, the market price then collapsed almost as quickly, and is now approximately a dime – less than a fraction of its highest value.

Meanwhile, the $TRUMP token hit a high of $45.47 and presently sells for approximately five seventy-nine.

Legal Allegations and Plaintiffs' Position

The claimants allege that the currency's developers planned the operation conscious that the cryptocurrency's price would plummet.

Melania Trump herself is not mentioned in the lawsuit. The plaintiffs stated they do not consider she was culpable, but charged the crypto companies of exploiting her and other well-known personalities as a cover for their fraudulent schemes.

Exchange Platform Role

As per fresh court papers, claimants accuse leaders of the Meteora cryptocurrency exchange, where Melania's coin was first exchanged, of creating a plan that enabled them to indirectly purchase substantial volumes of the virtual coin.

Their accomplices then quickly resold these digital currencies, pocketing substantial profits while causing the value to crash, per documents filed in Manhattan federal court.

Broader Context

The charges concerning the Melania token have been incorporated into court cases regarding several other digital currencies, which started in spring.

The Trump organization has reportedly secured more than one billion dollars in pre-tax earnings from several blockchain-associated ventures and firms over the last year.
